Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

The Immaculate Heart Of Mary

The Feast of The Immaculate Heart

Mary, Mother of Jesus, and ours, points out to us her Immaculate Heart. A heart that burns with divine love, that, surrounded white roses and lilies, shows us its total purity and that, pierced a sword, invites us to live the path of exalted pain and joy.

The Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary refers us in a direct, mystical and mysterious way to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

And that is because in Mary, everything leads us to her Son.

The Hearts of Jesus and Mary are wonderfully united, linked in time and eternity.

The Church teaches us that the surest way to reach Jesus is through his Mother.

For this reason, we consecrate ourselves to the Heart of Jesus through the Heart of Mary.

This is evident in the liturgy, celebrating both holy days consecutively, Friday and Saturday respectively, in the week following Corpus Christi Sunday.

Miraculous Heart of Mary

Holy Mary, Mediatrix of all graces, invites us to trust in her maternal love for us, to direct our prayers asking her Immaculate Heart to help us conform to the ways of her Son, Jesus.

Venerating her Immaculate Heart means, then, not only reverence to her physical heart, but also her person, as the source and foundation of all her virtues.

We expressly venerate her Heart as a symbol of her love for God and for others.

The Heart of Our Mother clearly shows us the correct responses to our impulses her deep, authentic purity.

By helping us discern, and showing us the concrete path to follow every day, she helps us decide from the variety of possibilities that are offered to all of us.

Mary, who was saved from all sin God’s grace, responds to us with the right way to direct those impulses, always according and oriented towards God’s Plan.

She, who constantly treasured, and meditated on all the signs of God in her own Heart, calls on us to strive to get to know our own. Our heart, what is the deep reality of our being, that mysterious nucleus deep in our hearts, where we find the divine footprint that demands a full encounter with a God of love.

Prayer to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

“Remember, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart,

All the wonders that the Lord has done in you:

He chose you as a mother and wanted you next to her cross.

Today he has you share his glory and hears your pleas.

Offer him our praises and our thanksgiving.

Present our requests to him.

(Here you ask for the grace you want to obtain)

Make us live, like you, in the love of your Son, so that his kingdom comes to us.

Drive all men to the fountain of living water that flows from his Heart, spilling over the world hope and salvation, justice and peace.

See our confidence, heed our plea, and always show yourself, our Mother.

Amen”

(Then you say an Our Father, a Hail Mary and a Glory Be)

Meaning of the Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

A promise of love where everything that the family is, has and does is given to Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of the Virgin Mary, in order to live our lives in full surrender to the will of the Father.

The family is left in the hands of the Virgin Mary so that she can exercise her role as the spiritual Mother, Mediatrix of graces, Advocate and Queen.

The ultimate goal of all consecration is to approach Jesus;

The Virgin Mary is the effective means to achieve a greater union with Christ and she is the source of maternal protection against Satan.

Through consecration, family members hope to become like Saint Joseph, fully dedicated to Jesus and Mary.

They must ask God for His grace to live fully faithful to this consecration, recognizing that they belong to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, who from then on must be the center of every aspect of their lives, decisions, relationships, etc.

History of the Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

St Eudes Medal of Twin Hearts Jesus & Mary

The history of the devotion of the Immaculate Heart begins in the seventeenth century, as a consequence of the spiritual movement that came from Saint John Eudes (St Jean Eudes)..

The feast of the Sacred Heart of Mary was celebrated for the first time in 1648, and that of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in 1672, each feast as a reproduction of the first, with an Octave of its own.

Both the Mass and the Office appropriate for these feasts were composed Father Eudes, who there had the honor of preceding Blessed Margaret Mary in establishing the devotion to the Sacred Hearts.

He established the Society of the Heart of the Most Admirable Mother similar to the Tertiary Orders of San Francisco and Santo Domingo. This society now has between twenty thousand and twenty five thousand members.

Saint John Eudes made a vow of chastity at the age of fourteen. After conducting brilliant studies with the Jesuits at Caen, he entered the Congregation on March 25, 1623. The teachers and models for his spiritual life were the Fathers of Bérulle and Condren. He was ordained a priest on December 20, 1625; he began his priestly life with heroic works for the victims of the plague that was then ravaging the country. Father Eudes was famous as a missionary.

Meaning of the Devotion

Our Lady of Fatima - a message of peace on earth

Centuries later, in December 1925, the Blessed Virgin appeared to Lucía Martos, one of the seers of Our Lady of Fatima. At that time, she promised to attend their hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation, to all those who on the first Saturdays of 5 consecutive months, went to confession, received Holy Communion, and prayed one third of the Rosary, with the intention of healing it.

In the third apparition of Fatima, Our Mother made the message very clear to Lucia:

“Our Lord wants devotion to the Immaculate Heart to be established in the world. If what I tell you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace; the war will end.

I want the world to be consecrated to my Immaculate Heart and to receive Communion in reparation on the first Saturday of each month.

If my requests are fulfilled, Russia will be converted and there will be peace. In the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph, and mankind will enjoy an era of peace.”

In a dialogue between Lucia and Jacinta, she, then only ten years old, said to Lucia:

“I have little time left to go to Heaven, but you are going to stay down here to make known to the world that our Lord wants us to establish in the world the devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Tell them all to ask for this grace through her and that the Heart of Jesus wishes to be venerated together with the Heart of his Mother.

Insist that they ask for peace through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, for the Lord has placed in their hearts and hands the peace of the world.”

Pope Pius XII, on October 31, 1942, at the close of the solemn celebration in honor of the Apparitions of Fatima, and according to their message, consecrated the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Likewise, on May 4, 1944, the Holy Father instituted the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which began to be celebrated on August 22. It now takes place on the Saturday following the Second Sunday of Pentecost.
